Hello everyone it is Friday and that

means it's time for another Bizmates for

Beginners video lesson. Today everyone we

are going to learn the expression
"in a jam."

It's an interesting one so let's

find out what it means in our video

lesson today but first as always, let's

see if you can remember our expression

from last week's video.

Alright everyone so imagine I say: You

know I'm going to ask for a raise. But you

don't think this is a good idea because

our boss maybe gets angry very, very

easily. So this is kind of a risky

proposal. So, what do you say? You've got

five seconds alright, everyone?

Alright go!

Alright and time is up, if you said

"Really? Well you better not play

with fire" then you got it. Good job and

thanks for remembering last week's

expression. Alright everyone so moving on

to "in a jam." Now this is what I sometimes hear --

alright so my colleague, Taro,

he's asking me for some assistance.

OK, he's asking me for help so I say:

Taro, sorry you said you needed some help?

Is everything okay, what's wrong? And Taro

he says: Yes, I'm in a hard situation. OK

so I can understand that Taro is in a

tough spot, so he needs me to help him

out and he expressed that, I think, very

clearly here, but in Canada or in Western

countries you might hear us use this

idiom... so we might say "yes, I'm in a jam."

and this means I'm in a tough spot, I'm

in a hard or difficult situation and I

need you to help me out, okay?

So whenever you need assistance from

someone, you can say: I'm in a jam. Can you

help me out? Okay?

So this can be used in business or in

casual situations. OK so for example,

maybe you don't know how to respond to

an e-mail, okay you're in a jam -- you don't

know how to write this e-mail. So, you can

ask your coworker for help, alright? So

"I'm sorry I got this e-mail from this

client and I'm not familiar with the

process. I'm in a jam, can you help me out?"

OK, something like that. Alright so

the pronunciation, it's very easy it's

just as you see it written here... in a jam

but when we say it quickly okay, it's
"inajam."

It's almost compressed into one

word, alright? In a jam. OK, everyone so

please repeat after me:

I'm in a jam. Your turn.

Alright very good okay now after my question:

You said you need some help?

Alright, exactly right. OK everyone good job, so please

remember this for next time. Alright

our bonus question this week everyone is

another way to say: "has another job at a

different company" okay? Alright if you

know the answer, leave it in the comments

below, if you don't know the answer and

you want to find out what it is, it's in

one of our previous Bizmates for

Beginners video lessons everyone, so

check it out if you've got some time.

Alright so that is it for me this week

everyone. Thank you so much for watching,

have a great weekend. I'll see you next time.
Thank you.
