Hello everyone, Justin here and I am back
with another Bizmates for Beginners
video lesson where every week we
introduce a new idiom, phrase, or
expression that you can use in your
daily business conversation. And this
week everyone, we are going to learn:
"to be blown away." OK, to be blown away
what does this mean? If you're interested
please stay tuned, but first as always,
let's begin with a quick review of last
week's class. Alright everyone, so imagine
I say: Hi! How are you doing today?
But unfortunately because you have been
working all weekends - no rest - you
are physically in kind of poor condition.
Alright so how do you say that using the
expression from last week? I'll give you
five seconds. Are you ready?
Alright and time is up if you said:
I was here all weekend, so I'm feeling
pretty run-down, then that's exactly right.
Well done and thank you for remembering
last week's class. Okay everyone, let's
move on to: "to be blown away." Alright
now this is what I sometimes hear --
alright so I'm talking to my good friend
and colleague, Taro, and we just
interviewed an applicant, okay? This
person wants to work for our company, so
I'm asking Taro about his opinion: So, say
Taro, what did you think about the
applicant's presentation? It was pretty
good, right? Taro says: Yeah, I was very
impressed! Alright very good. Thank You
Taro, I'm happy to hear that. Okay, so
"very impressed" - no problem, easy to
understand, but if you wanted to add a
little more spice to your English or use
something that a native English speaker
might say, you could use... that's right.
I was blown away. So whenever something
really, really impresses you, you can say:
"I was blown away" okay? So for example
I was blown away by his presentation.
I was blown away
by the design, okay? Or if you want to
change the subject, you can say the movie
blew me away, alright? Or the business
idea blew me away, okay? So whenever
something really impresses you, you can
use this expression, okay?
Alright pronunciation, as you see it
here: I was blown away!
So please repeat after me:
I was blown away! Your turn.
Very good, now after my question:
So what did you think about the applicant's
Good! I was blown away, okay?
Alright so please remember this for
next week's review. Alright so speaking
of bonus question, this week everyone
our bonus question is another way to say:
"I did it perfectly." Alright so if you
know what the answer is, please leave it
in the comments below. If you don't know
what the answer is but you want to find
it, you can find it in one of our
previous Bizmates for Beginners video
lessons, so take a look if you have the
time. Now we are leaving last week's
bonus question answer in the information
below, so take a look at that in the
YouTube page, okay? Alright so that is it
for me this week, thank you always for
watching everyone and I will see you
next time. Thank you.
