Hello everyone, Justin here and welcome
to another Bizmates for Beginners video
lesson where every week we introduce a
new idiom, phrase, or expression that you
can use in your daily business
conversation. And this week everyone, we
are going to learn: "right around the
corner.' Right around the corner, so what
does that mean? Well, stay tuned to find
out but first, as always, let's begin with
a quick review of last week's class.
Alright everyone, so imagine I say to you:
There are so many smart devices these
days. And of course you agree. They are
everywhere, alright? They're not rare --
it's everywhere. So how do you say that
using the expression from last week?
I'll give you five seconds to think about it.
Are you ready? Okay, go!
Alright and time is up. If you said:
Yes. They're a dime a dozen!
Then that's exactly right,
well done and thank you for remembering
last week's class. Alright everyone
let's move on to: "right around the corner."
Now imagine this... I'm talking to my good
friend and colleague, Taro. I say: Taro,, wow
it's already end of December. I can't
believe the year is almost over.
Unbelievable, 2018 almost finished.
Taro, says: That's right! 2019 is coming soon!
That's right. So okay, very good. Thank you,
Taro. Now although this is all right, you
might hear your native colleague or
native English speaker say something
like this: That's right! 2019 is just
right around the corner! Alright, so
we're not physically right around the
corner, we can use this expression to
represent time as well, all right? So
whenever something is going to happen
soon, all right, you can say that it's
right around the corner. So Christmas is
right around the corner, New Year's is
just right around the corner.
The deadline is just right around the corner.
Okay, something that's going to happen
soon is right around the corner, okay?
Alright so pronunciation, as you see it
here, please repeat after me: That's right!
2019 is right around the corner! Your turn.
Okay, very good. Now after my
sentence here: Wow! I can't believe the
year is almost over!
Okay that's right
2019 is right around the corner okay.
And just a little extra for you here, if you
wanted to emphasize that it's really
really going to come soon -- it's very near --
you can even put a "just" here, alright?
"...is just right around the corner." "Just" for a
little emphasis, okay? Alright,, so please
remember this for next time. Alright
everyone, our bonus question this week is
another way to say: "Bye." Alright we
covered this in one of our previous
Bizmates for Beginners video lessons so
take a look if you've got the time.
I'll leave the answer to last week's
bonus question in the information
description below on the YouTube channel
so you can take a look there and see if
you got last week's bonus question
correct. Okay everyone, so that is it for
us this week and it is the last Bizmates
for Beginners video lesson for 2018, so
I'll see you in 2019. I wish you and
yours a very very happy new year. Lots of
joy, lots of happiness, I hope a lot of
good things are coming your way in 2019.
Alright so thank you for an amazing
year everyone, and I'll see you next time.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
