Smooth Sailing の自然な使い方を動画で学ぶ
Hello everyone! Justin here and welcome back to another
Bizmates for Beginners video lesson
where every week we introduce a new idiom, phrase,
or expression that you can use in your daily
business conversation. And this week everyone, we are
going to learn: Smooth Sailing
So, to find out what this means and how to use it
please stay tuned. But first, as always,
let's begin with a quick review of last week's class.
Alright, so imagine, I ask you: Are you
ready to start our next big project?
And of course, you are more than ready, you are
very excited. You can't wait to start
the next project. So,
how do you say using the expression from last week.
I'll give you 5 seconds. Are you ready? Ok
Alright, and time is up,
if you said: I can't wait to dive in!
Then that's exactly right. Well done! And thank you for
remembering last week's class. Ok everyone,
so let's move on to: Smooth Sailing
Now, this is what I sometimes hear.
Alright, so Taro started a new project.
Right? So, I'm following up with him
to see how things are going. So say:
Taro, how is your new project going so far? Taro
says: No problem so far!
I'm happy to hear that. I'm happy to hear that things are going very well
very smoothly. Now, although this is fine
it's vey simple, easy to understand, you might
hear a native English speaker say this:
Smooth sailing! Alright? So,
whenever things are going well, there's no problem,
things are easy, things are smooth.
Alright? So, its: Smooth sailing. Ok?
So, for example, if you change jobs,
and it's going very well, I say: So, how is your new
job going so far? And you can say:
Smooth sailing! So no problems, everything is
going very well. No issues. Smooth sailing. Ok?
Alright, so, the pronunciation, as you can see
here, smooth sailing. Alright? So make
sure you get a 'th' sound at the end here. Ok?
It's not a 'z' sound like 'smooz'.
Sometimes I hear smooz, 'smooz' ok.
But it's 'smooth'. Alright, there's a 'th' there. So please remember that.
Alright, so 'smooth sailing'. So go ahead, your turn:
Alright, very good! Alright, now after my question:
So, how's your
new project going so far?
Smooth sailing! Alright, very good!
So, please remember this for next time. Ok, everyone,
our bonus question this week is another way to say:
Good with technology. If you know what the answer is,
you can feel free to leave it in on the comments below.
If you don't know what the answer is, well you can
find it in one of our previous Bizmates
for Beginners video lessons, so take a look if you have the time.
Alright? And I of course will leave the answer to last
week's bonus question in the information below.
Alright, so take a look.
Ok, so that is it for us
this week everyone! Thank you always for watching.
Have a great weekend everyone, and I will see you next time.
