Hello everyone! Justin here and welcome
back to another Bizmates for Beginners

0:00:04.500,0:00:08.970
video lesson where every week we
introduced a new idiom, phrase, or

0:00:08.970,0:00:13.500
expression that you can use in your
daily business conversation. This week

0:00:13.500,0:00:19.170
everyone we are going to learn: A Flop.
Okay, so to find out what this means and

0:00:19.170,0:00:23.789
how to use it stay tuned. But first as
always, let's begin with a quick review

0:00:23.789,0:00:30.480
of last week's lesson. Alright everyone
so imagine I asked you: Any idea when the

0:00:30.480,0:00:36.510
new feature will be ready? And well you
don't know when it will be ready, but you

0:00:36.510,0:00:41.730
know that it is in development now. So
how do you say that using the expression

0:00:41.730,0:00:46.840
from last week everyone? You've got five
seconds. Are you ready? Alright and go!

0:00:50.500,0:00:57.220
Okay and time is up. If you said: No, but
it's in the pipeline. Then there you go!

0:00:57.239,0:01:02.430
That's right well done and thank you for
remembering last week's class. Okay let's

0:01:02.430,0:01:08.790
move on to: A Flop. Now this is what I
sometimes hear. Alright so I'm talking

0:01:08.790,0:01:13.710
with my good friend and colleague Taro, I
asked: Taro, so what do people think about

0:01:13.710,0:01:18.270
the new concept? Okay, maybe we're
thinking about a new idea for a new

0:01:18.270,0:01:24.980
product. We want to get some opinions, we
want to get some feedback. Taro says:

0:01:24.980,0:01:31.380
Well unfortunately, it was a big failure. Okay,
well sorry to hear that. But it's always

0:01:31.380,0:01:35.640
good to get other people's opinions
right, alright Taro. So he said it's a

0:01:35.640,0:01:39.960
big failure. This is fine but you might
hear a native English speaker say this:

0:01:39.960,0:01:48.380
Yeah unfortunately, it was a flop. Okay so
whenever something fails spectacularly,

0:01:48.380,0:01:54.659
it's a flop. Okay so imagine someone's
diving okay, and if you're a very good

0:01:54.659,0:02:02.759
diver, you enter the water very nicely. No
splash, very clean okay. But imagine you

0:02:02.759,0:02:07.740
land belly first into the water, it's
like smack okay. That's a flop. It's a

0:02:07.740,0:02:11.430
really big failure. It's kind of
embarrassing. Alright, there's a lot of

0:02:11.430,0:02:16.950
water everywhere it's not very
elegant, it's not very graceful, it's a

0:02:16.950,0:02:23.340
big failure, it's a flop. Okay, so for
example, the movie flopped the project

0:02:23.340,0:02:28.109
flopped, okay the concept flopped. Alright,
so it's something that's very

0:02:28.109,0:02:32.220
useful that hopefully you can use well,
maybe not too often. We don't want many

0:02:32.220,0:02:36.420
flops right. Okay so pronunciation here, Alright so

0:02:36.420,0:02:41.820
please repeat after me everyone:
Unfortunately, it was a flop. Your turn.

0:02:44.660,0:02:49.740
Okay, very good. Now after my question here:
So what do people think about the new concept?

0:02:52.100,0:02:56.939
Unfortunately, it was a flop. Okay.
Alright, so please remember this for

0:02:56.939,0:03:01.470
next time. Okay everyone, so our bonus
question this week is another way to say:

0:03:01.470,0:03:05.760
I'm becoming tired! If you know what the
answer is you can leave it in the

0:03:05.760,0:03:10.019
comments below. If you don't know but you
are curious, you are in luck because we

0:03:10.019,0:03:14.579
covered it in one of our previous
Bizmates for Beginners video lessons so

0:03:14.579,0:03:19.470
take a look if you've got the time. Okay
and that is it for us this week everyone,

0:03:19.470,0:03:23.280
thank you always for watching! Have a
great weekend and I'll look forward to

0:03:23.280,0:03:26.200
seeing you next time. Thank you!
