Point 170 ”lovey-dovey”

“Taro you know Takahashi-san has a really good relationship with his wife.”

“Yes they’re really love-love!”

“They’re really lovey-dovey.”

Hello, everyone! Justin here and welcome to another Bizmates for Beginners video lesson.

to learn the expression lovey-dovey. So what is lovey-dovey and how do we use it?

Let's find out. But first, let's do a quick review to make sure you remember

last week's expression.

Okay, everyone. So imagine I say, "That company's reputation isn't very good".

How do you respond? You have five seconds.

Okay? Go!

...and times up.

If you said,

"Yes...it's a sketchy company!"

Then you got it!

Nice job and thank you for remembering last week's class.

Okay, everyone. Moving on to today's expression "lovey-dovey".

This is what I sometimes hear. So again, I'm talking to my good friend and colleague Taro.

And I say, "Taro you know Takahashi-san has a really good relationship with his wife."

And Taro, he agrees so he says, "Yes they're really love-love!"

Okay, so this is a really interesting and unique expression that

I've heard used many times in Japan, but unfortunately,

we don't have this expression in English. So what should we say?

That's right you got it,

They're really "lovey-dovey".

Okay, when someone shows their love and affection

for somebody even if it's in front of some people they are very lovey-dovey.

Okay, so pronunciation is ery simple

not so tough. It's just as it is written

here. Lovey dovey. Okay, everyone? Please repeat after me.

Lovey-dovey. Good. Okay, now after my sentence.

"Takahashi-san has a really good relationship with his wife."

Exactly. That's right. They're really lovey-dovey. Okay. Alright, so please

remember this expression for next week's review
