Hello everyone and welcome to another
Bizmates for Beginners video lesson

0:00:05.640,0:00:11.160
where every week we introduce a new
idiom, phrase or expression that you can

0:00:11.160,0:00:15.960
use in your daily business conversation.
And this week everyone we are going to

0:00:15.960,0:00:22.109
learn: "on edge." So if you want to know
what this means and how to use it, please

0:00:22.109,0:00:27.570
stay tuned but first as always, let's do
a quick review of last week's class.

0:00:27.570,0:00:33.870
Alright so imagine I say: What? You
missed the deadline? Is the boss angry?

0:00:33.870,0:00:38.820
And of course because it's a very
important project, very important

0:00:38.820,0:00:44.730
deadline, so yes the boss is angry. You
are in a tough situation. You might be

0:00:44.730,0:00:50.730
punished okay? So how do you say that
using the expression from last week?

0:00:50.730,0:00:54.720
You have five seconds to think about it.
Are you ready? Alright go!

0:00:57.780,0:01:04.680
OK and time is up. If you
said: "Yes. I'm in hot water" then that's

0:01:04.680,0:01:10.080
exactly right. Well done and thank you
for remembering the expression.

0:01:10.080,0:01:15.900
OK everyone so let's move on to: "on edge."
Now this is what I sometimes hear...

0:01:15.900,0:01:20.400
Alright I'm talking to Taro, my good
friend and colleague, and I say: Taro, so

0:01:20.400,0:01:26.660
you have a very important interview
today, right? So how are you feeling?

0:01:26.920,0:01:34.420
Taro says: Yeah, I'm feeling a bit nervous. OK yes, I understand. It's a very important

0:01:34.439,0:01:38.970
interview, so you have to do well.
Yeah it's natural that you'll feel

0:01:38.970,0:01:44.460
nervous. OK this is fine, but you might
hear a native English speakers say

0:01:44.460,0:01:49.439
something like this: Yeah, I'm feeling a
bit on edge -- you're really nervous,

0:01:49.439,0:01:55.590
you're not comfortable, it's really hard
to focus, you know little small things

0:01:55.590,0:02:01.649
kind of bother you very easily because
you're not feeling yourself because

0:02:01.649,0:02:05.369
you're so nervous, alright?
You're "on edge" okay everyone?

0:02:05.369,0:02:10.679
Alright so pronunciation. It's as you
see it here, nothing special this week.

0:02:10.680,0:02:16.080
So please repeat after me:
I'm feeling a bit on edge. Your turn.

0:02:18.340,0:02:22.060
OK good. Alright now after my question here:

0:02:22.100,0:02:25.740
So I hear you have a very important interview today, right?

0:02:25.740,0:02:27.680
So how are you feeling?

0:02:30.220,0:02:33.440
OK that's right.
I'm feeling a bit on edge.

0:02:33.450,0:02:37.770
Right, nervous -- really nervous, and
uncomfortable. Alright so please

0:02:37.770,0:02:42.510
remember this for next time. OK our
bonus question this week everyone is

0:02:42.510,0:02:46.980
another way to say: "becoming good
situation." If you know what the answer is,

0:02:46.980,0:02:51.480
please leave it in the comments below. If
you don't know what it is, well you can

0:02:51.480,0:02:56.610
find it in one of our previous Bizmates
for Beginners video lessons, so take a

0:02:56.610,0:03:01.920
look if you have the time. And then that
is it for me this week everyone, thank

0:03:01.920,0:03:06.120
you so much for watching the video. Enjoy
the rest of your week and have a great

0:03:06.120,0:03:11.030
weekend and I'll see you next time okay?
Thank you.
