Hello, everyone, Justin here. And welcome
back to another Bizmates For Beginners video lesson,

0:00:05.255,0:00:08.820
where every week we introduce a new idiom, phrase, or expression

0:00:08.820,0:00:13.300
that you can use in your daily business conversation. This week, everyone,

0:00:13.300,0:00:19.300
we are going to learn for something to "fall through".
So, what does this mean?

0:00:19.300,0:00:26.300
Let's find out. But first, as always, let's begin with a quick look at last week's class. All right, everyone.

0:00:26.300,0:00:31.120
So imagine, I asked you: "Hey, are these sales figures correct?"

0:00:31.120,0:00:39.900
And yes, they are exactly 100% accurate, so how do you say that using the expression from last week?

0:00:39.900,0:00:44.440
I'll give you five seconds to think about it. Are you ready? Okay, go.

0:00:48.240,0:00:54.780
All right, and time is up. If you said: "Yes, right on the money.", then well done.

0:00:54.780,0:00:58.360
Good job and thank you for remembering last week's lesson.

0:00:58.360,0:01:03.680
Okay let's move on to "fall through".
Now, this is what I sometimes hear.

0:01:03.680,0:01:09.160
All right. So, I am checking up on my good friend and colleague, Taro.

0:01:09.160,0:01:16.180
And recently, Taro has been negotiating
with one of our suppliers.

0:01:16.180,0:01:21.380
Maybe he's trying to get a better price or a better deal or something. So I say:

0:01:21.380,0:01:28.080
"Taro, how is the negotiation going with our suppliers? Is it going well? Is it going bad?"

0:01:28.080,0:01:33.960
Taro says: "Well, unfortunately, the negotiation was failed."

0:01:33.960,0:01:39.740
Okay. I am sorry to hear that business negotiations can be very tricky.

0:01:39.740,0:01:45.000
Okay, so although this is fine, yeah, it was
failed, it didn't go well, I get the meaning,

0:01:45.000,0:01:49.000
that's okay. You might hear a native English speakers say:

0:01:49.009,0:01:56.250
"Unfortunately, the negotiation fell
through." Okay. So, whenever something fails

0:01:56.250,0:02:02.610
or it didn't turn out successfully, it
didn't go the way you wanted it to,

0:02:02.610,0:02:10.300
it "fell through" is a very, actually, useful
expression. You can use this in many different situations.

0:02:10.300,0:02:13.470
For example, our plans tonight fell through.

0:02:13.470,0:02:18.440
Meaning, our plans tonight
didn't work out. They failed.

0:02:18.440,0:02:23.360
Our partnership, our business partnership
fell through. It didn't work out.

0:02:23.360,0:02:27.240
Okay? So, you can use this in a variety of
situations.

0:02:27.240,0:02:31.590
All right. So, pronunciation here, everyone,
so please repeat after me.

0:02:31.590,0:02:36.840
Fell through. Fell through. All right.
So, you can join those together

0:02:36.840,0:02:42.780
and it almost sounds like one word. Fell through.
Okay? Unfortunately, the negotiation fell through.

0:02:42.780,0:02:51.580
Your turn. All right, good. Now after my question: "So, how's the negotiation going with our supplier?"

0:02:51.580,0:02:58.420
you say: "All right. Unfortunately, the negotiation fell through."

0:02:58.420,0:03:02.740
It didn't work out. It failed. It didn't go the way I wanted. Okay?

0:03:02.740,0:03:06.540
Well, that happens sometimes so best of luck next time. Okay?

0:03:06.540,0:03:12.580
All right. So, let's move on to our bonus question which is another way to say

0:03:12.580,0:03:18.320
"that's a dangerous situation". Okay. You find something that, maybe, is a risk;

0:03:18.320,0:03:22.980
it's a dangerous situation. So what is it? It is a...? I'll give you a hint -

0:03:22.980,0:03:26.670
has something to do with color.
Okay. All right, if you know what the answer is,

0:03:26.670,0:03:31.140
please leave it in the comments below. If you don't know what the answer is,

0:03:31.140,0:03:35.900
well, we covered it in one of our previous Bizmates For Beginners video lessons,

0:03:35.900,0:03:41.420
so take a look if you have the time. All right everyone, so that is it for us this week.

0:03:41.420,0:03:46.220
Thank you always for watching. Have a great week, everyone, and I will see you next time.

0:03:46.220,0:03:48.520
Thank you.
