Hello everyone! Justin here and welcome
back to another Bizmates for Beginners
video lesson where every week we
introduced a new idiom, phrase, or
expression that you can use in your
daily business conversation. This week
everyone, we're going to learn:
Hats Off to You.
So to find out what this means stay tuned.
But first, a quick review of last week's
class. Okay everyone, so imagine I ask you:
How can we solve this problem?
But in order to solve this problem, we have to
think differently. So how do you say that
using the expression from last week?
You've got five seconds. Are you ready? Okay go!
Alright and time is up! And the
answer is of course: We have to think
outside the box.
So hopefully you remember that
expression. Okay everyone, let's move on
to: Hats Off to You. Now this is what I
sometimes hear. Okay, I have been working
very very hard to achieve my target and
finally I achieved my goal. So I say to
Taro, my good colleague, I say: Taro, I
finally achieved the target! I'm so happy.
It was very difficult. Taro says: Wow!
I respect you! So good job, I think it was
tough so I respect you, well done.
This is okay, but it's a little bit stiff,
not very natural. So Taro could say:
Wow! Hats off to you! Meaning I
understand it was really tough. I
understand that it was difficult and you
accomplished it. So, great job or hats off
to you. So, for example, you managed to get
a contract or you could get two team
members that don't like each other,
they're always fighting each other, to
work together to do something
successfully. That's very difficult, so
you say: Wow! Great job, hats off to you!
That's really tough. Well done!
Okay, so very useful expression and good
to show that you don't get to show your
counterpart that you recognize
their good work and
their efforts. Okay?
hats off to you. Alright, so
pronunciation as you see it here. However
when we say hats off together very
quickly. It almost sounds like one word.
So instead of hats off, it's hats off.
Okay? Hats off to you. Alright so one more
time after me, hats off to you. Your turn!
Alright good. Now after my sentence here:
So guess what, I finally achieved the target!
Say: Wow! Hats off to you. Okay? So
please remember this for next time. Okay
our bonus question is another way to say:
I think you should be the leader.
Okay, here's a hint for you. I think you should
be the leader, I think you should. Alright?
Hopefully you know the answer. If you
don't, well we covered it in one of our
previous video, so take a look if you
have the time. Alright, so thank you
always for watching the videos everyone!
I hope your studies are going well.
English is very difficult so hats off to
you for continuing to study. Okay and
thank you for watching. I'll see you next
time. Bye bye!
