こんなシチュエーション、お仕事でありませんか?

家族が感染症にかかったため、明日は有給を取って看病することにしました。でも明日は重要な会議があるので、可能ならば自宅から電話で会議に参加したい。同僚に休むこと、その理由と、家から会議に参加希望であることをメールしなければなりません。

Hello everyone, welcome to E-mail Picks. Are you and your family all doing well?

Because my wife texted me a few minutes
ago to tell me that she and our child

have become sick.
It looks like my child has brought home

some kind of disease from his nursery
school and they are both feeling very

sick. I feel okay now
but according to my wife, the doctor said

that it's an infectious disease.
Infectious diseases are the kind of

diseases that can be passed on very
easily to other people, so I have a good

chance of catching it too. Now I have a
meeting scheduled with my colleagues

but I decided to take a day off.
It's because I thought my family would

like someone there -- a healthy person
there to cook for them and look after

them, and besides I don't want to pass on the
disease to my colleagues, but we are

discussing pretty important stuff in
tomorrow's meeting. So unless I become

very, very sick, I want to join the
meeting using Skype. So now I'm going to

write to my colleagues to tell them that
I'll be absent from work and the meeting,

and I'll write the reason and my plan to
join a meeting via online chat. So here

goes: Dear colleagues, I'm afraid I will
not be able to physically attend our

next meeting as both my wife and child
are unable to take care of themselves

due to an infectious disease, I've decided
it's best for me to stay home too.

However, I myself feel fine at the moment
and if possible, I would like to

participate in the meeting via Skype. I'm
sorry for the inconvenience Kyota.

OK, so in this e-mail, I'm making it clear
that I won't be there for the meeting,

but I still want to join through a chat
system. In the first paragraph, I wrote

"I will not be able to physically attend
our next meeting" and in the second

paragraph I wrote "if possible, I would
like to participate in the meeting via

Skype." I wrote the reason briefly and
avoided saying details because I thought

details on which disease or what kind of
pain my family is going through right

now are not so important information for
my colleagues. They just need to know

why I cannot attend, there's no need to
be dramatic here.

Alright, so that's my e-mail to inform my
absence. My next task is to download a

cooking recipe app and find a nutritious
dish that even I can make. Alright, so
